DEDICATION OF THE IRISH MEMORIAL SEPT. 6. 2008

History was Made at The Dedication of the MIDLANDS IRISH MEMORIAL held on Saturday Sept. 6th at Riverfront Park in Columbia, SC. The night before, a special reception was held at The Knights of Columbus Hall for Irish Consul General Niall Burgess. A special mass was celebrated Saturday morning at St. Peter's Church, followed by a wreath laying ceremony in the church grave site honoring the Irish buried there. At 11am the unveling of the memorial itself was held at Riverfront Park. Afterwards, guests enjoyed music from Corner House and the Rince N'ah Eireann Step Dancers and gathered soon afterwards at Delayney's in Five Points. Scroll down for photos.
