ANNUAL CEILI: Saturday March 7, 2009, doors open at 5PM, Ceili starts at 6PM.
LOCATION:
Knights of Columbus Hall, 1623 Marion St. (at Blanding) in downtown Columbia.
FEATURING Music by TJ Lanaghan and Finnbar Dunphy, Irish dances by Rince na h’Eireann.
COST: Advance tickets are only $5.00 each, $10 at the door. Ages 16 & under admitted free, must be accompanied by an adult.
Advance tickets are available at Delaney’s, 741 Saluda Ave. in Five Points. Food & beverage available at reasonable prices.

DEDICATION OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA IRISH MEMORIAL SEPT. 6. 2008

History was Made at The Dedication of the SOUTH CAROLINA IRISH MEMORIAL held on Saturday Sept. 6th at Riverfront Park in Columbia, SC. The night before, a special reception was held at The Knights of Columbus Hall for Irish Consul General Niall Burgess. A special mass was celebrated Saturday morning at St. Peter's Church, followed by a wreath laying ceremony in the church grave site honoring the Irish buried there. At 11am the unveling of the memorial itself was held at Riverfront Park. Afterwards, guests enjoyed music from Corner House and the Rince N'ah Eireann Step Dancers and gathered soon afterwards at Delaney's in Five Points. Scroll down for photos.

The Keynote Speaker at the dedication was Consul General of Ireland, Niall Burgess.

This is a significant step for us due to the South Carolina Governor's proclamation declaring March as South Carolina Irish-American Heritage Month.
